HARRY F. GIBBS, Sr.

  Harry F. Gibbs, Sr., who has been making his home with his son in South Acton, passed away Sunday evening, June 7, at seven o’clock, after a short illness.
     Mr. Gibbs was a Civil War veteran and was the youngest of the same, his age being 75 years, 4 months, and 21 days. He entered the Navy as powder and messenger boy in 1863, later enlisting in the 2nd Mass Cavalry, Co. H, and was mustered out in ’65. He was also chief engineer of the Natick Water Works for 26 years. During many years he was a prominent member of the G.A.R., Masons, and ever an earnest worker for his church.
     There is left to mourn his loss a wife and one son, Harry F. Gibbs, Jr. Interment was made at Mt. Hope cemetery, West Acton.
