Joseph Noyes Robbins was born June 13, 1834 in Acton to parents Tilly Jr. and Joanna Robbins (source: Town of Acton register of births, Vol. 2, p. 37; also Massachusetts Vital Records to 1850, in: American Ancestors [online database].) He was the brother of Varnum F. Robbins.
