Acton Memorial Library

The Acton Libraries are pleased to offer you a Library of Things (LoT) at our Memorial Library location. These items are offered so patrons can learn how to use them, whether they might want to purchase their own, or simply borrow them as needed from the library.

Some items may require a certification process. Some items can only be used in the library space. The loan of some items may require the completion of a liability waiver, provided by Library staff, stating the patron has prior knowledge of, training on, or experience with the item. Patrons are expected to be able to handle and transport LoT items using provided cases, as applicable. Loan times vary on LoT items.

Certain items that may pose a danger, such as tools and appliances, require a waiver. These items can only be checked out by adults 18 or over.

For other items, such as crafting kits and cake pans, patrons must be 12 or older.

Please note: all LoT items must be returned to the Memorial Library’s first floor circulation desk. Please do not place LoT items in our book drops.

Damage due to ordinary wear and tear is normal on some items. On other items, however, damage is not expected, nor reparable. Please treat all items with care. Loss or damage to certain items will result in the patron being billed for replacement cost of the item. Patrons will also be billed if an item is returned with any parts missing. The library maintains a list of replacement costs for LoT items which is available upon request. The library is not responsible for injury, loss, or damage that may occur from using a LoT item.

This collection was born from community need. If there is an item or category of items you think might be useful to our patrons, please share your ideas with a staff member.

Happy making, baking, learning, yard working, puzzling, and more!
