He first
entered the service as private, in Company B 32nd Regiment Massachusetts
Volunteers on November 26th, 1861, at Fort Warren (Concord, Mass)
(Fort Warren is situated at Boston Harbor)
On account
of chronic diarrhea, he was discharged in October, 1862 at Philadelphia
and was never re-enlisted.
He was
never wounded or taken prisoner but was confined in a hospital at
Philadelphia during the summer of 1862.
