At Arlington
Heights, Va. on Aug. 6th, 1862, I first entered the service, as
private in Company K, 1st Mass. Heavy Artillery. My rank still remained
the same during the war and at the close of the war, I still held
the same rank.
As my term
of service had expired, I was finally discharged at Boston on July
8th, 1864.
I was never
wounded or taken prisoner but was confined for a time at Regimental
Hospital, Va.
Among my
most intimate comrades were Sylvester C. Frost, Chas. H. Bridges,
Henry J. Crosby and John H. Melvin.
