On the
eighth day of July, 1864, I entered the service with Company E Sixth
Mass. Regiment at Readville enlisting as private for one-hundred
days and still held the same rank at the close of the war.
As my term of enlistment had expired, I was discharged on October
27th, 1864 at Readville and never enlisted into service again.
I was confined for a time at a hospital in Fort Delaware, Del.
Among my most intimate comrades were Luke Smith, John Cash, Waldo
Chaplin, Dr. Hutchins and Charles Blood.
