Ephraim A. Smith, age 17, a laborer, born in Mass., is recorded in the 1855 Massachusetts State Census for Groton, Middlesex County, in household (dwelling no. 6) with Henry E. and Mary J. Corey (source: "Massachusetts, State Census, 1855," Ancestry.com).

The 1862/63 annual town report for the Town of Acton: 18, records Eph. A. Smith's service in the 26th, with the note "not credited to this town by the State Authorities."

Pension documents indicate his P.O. address was in Masonville, Hillsborough Co., N.H, in 1866.
