Additional Information

Simeon O. Taylor, age 9, is recorded as a resident of Roxbury, Oxford, Maine in the 1850 census, in the household (no. 11/11) of Abel W. Taylor and Naomi S. Taylor. Also in the household was 14 year old Daniel G. Taylor ("1850 United States Federal Census," Ancestry.com).

Simeon Taylor, age 18, is recorded as a resident of Roxbury, Oxford, Maine in the 1860 federal census, in the household of Abil W. Taylor and Naomi Taylor. Also in the household was 24 year old Daniel Taylor ("1860 United States Federal Census," Ancestry.com).

Simeon O. Taylor, age 29, a farm laborer, and Betsey O. Taylor, age 30, are recorded as residents of Livermore, Maine in the 1870 census (household 35/37). Living with them was Joseph Taylor, age 1; and three children, ages 6-11, with the surname "Corthell", presumably children from her previous marriage ("1870 United States Federal Census," Ancestry.com).

Simeon O. Taylor, age 38, a farmer, and Betsey T. Taylor, age 42, are recorded as residents of Sumner, Oxford, Maine in the 1880 federal census. Also in the household (no. 168/192) were Abel W. Taylor, age 11, and Raddie B. Taylor, age 6. ("1880 United States Federal Census," Ancestry.com).

Betsey T. Taylor, widow of Simeon O. Taylor, is recorded as a resident of Somerville, Mass. (household no. 157/193) in the 1890 veterans census ("1890 Veterans Schedules," Ancestry.com).

Contradictory claims in the pension file leave in doubt Simeon Taylor's date of death.

Betsey T. Taylor died at Lawrence, Mass., of pneumonia, on February 10, 1897, at age 59 years, 5 months, 26 days. The death register records her as a widow living in Andover, Mass., and place of burial as Canton, Maine. She was born in Sumner Maine, to father Isaac. (Lawrence death register, "Massachusetts Vital Records, 1841–1910," AmericanAncestors.org).
