May ye 3: 1756
Then the Select men appointed a Town meeting to be at the
meeting house in acton on thursday the twentyth of May
currant at three of the Clock in the afternoon to Consider
and Conclude on the following articles (viz)

To See if the Town will Chuse a Representative this
present year

To See how much money the town will Raise to
Defray the Necessary Charges ariseing this present
year

3 |
To See much money the town will Raise to Support
a Reading and Writing School this present year –
and also to See How many parts the town Shall be Devided
into for the School to be kept in
|
4 |
T[o] See if the town will agree to Chuse a Committe to take Care
of the Timber that is yet Standing on the High ways
in Said acton and the Same was Committed to the Constables
|
May the 20th – 1756
at a general Town meeting at the meeting House it being
Leagally warned as appeared by the Return of the Constables
on their warrants

Chosen moderator for Said meeting

it was propounded whether the town will Raise Eight pound to defrey
the Nesesary Charges ariseing in Same this present year
voted in the affirmative

it was put to vote to See if the town will Raise twelve
pounds to Support a Reading and Writing School this present
year voted in the affirmative - - - - - -
and then it was propounded whether the town Shall be Devided
into Six parts voted in the affirmative

it was put to vote See if the town will Chuse a Commite to take care
of the timber that is Standing on the Highways into town and
the article was Dismissed then the meeting was Dismissed |

To an order to mr Samuel Jones for one pound Eighteen Shillings
and four pense out of the School money to be kept for the
use of the School in that part where he dweels [dwells] |
