As Corporal, in Company G. 19th Reg’t Mass. Infantry, I entered the service on July 27th, 1861. On account of disability, in consequence of having been a prisoner of war in Andersonville Prison, I was finally discharged on June 1st, 1865
Comrade Mansur’s experience, as a prisoner, was a similar one to Comrade Parker’s as given in his diary.
He was many months in prison and was but a mere skeleton of his former self when he returned home and had for months to be nursed back to life.
He has never been able to work very much since in consequence of his prison life.
