At Acton,
Mass., on Sept. 10th, 1861 I first entered the service as private
in company E. 26th Mass regiment and my rank remained the same during
the war and at the close.
I was first
discharged at Franklin, La in August 1864 but re-enlisted and was
finally discharged at Savannah, Ga on Sept. 23rd, 1865 as the war
had come to a close
My first
engagement was at Lafourche, La. I was never wounded or taken prisoner
but was confined in Mount Pleasant Hospital.
Among my
intimate comrades were Delette Hall, George Flood and Charles Parker. |
