Comrade Allen Griffin Smith
Who was born the Twentieth day of February
A.D. 1841
in
Chelmsford County of  Middlesex State of Massachusetts

In company E 6th Mass Regiment as private I entered the service at Lowell, Mass and held for a time the rank of Corporal but at the close my rank was that of a private.

I was for a time detached to Fort Vansemond and as my time had expired I was discharged at Lowell, Mass on third day of June 1863.

I never again enlisted into service.

My first engagement was Siege of Suffolk. I was ruptured at Fort Vansemond in 1863.

Among my most intimate comrades were Wm. F. Hale, John Hancock, Matthew A. Smith and Ai Heald.

I enlisted in Co. E. 6th Reg. in 1862 for nine months, discharged in 1863 and I was detached to Fort Vansemond, was corporal while there. I was sent back to my regiment the night before I came home. I do not know the dates.

I Certify that the Sketch of my War service as above written is true as
