At Lowell, Mass.on the twenty-fifth day of August, 1862, I entered the service, as private, in Company E. 6th Mass. Regiment Infantry for nine months and at the close of the war I held the rank of Corporal

By reason of term of enlistment having expired, I was first discharged on June 3rd, 1863 at Lowell, Mass.

I again enlisted on July 8th, 1864 in 6th Mass. M. V. M. and my term of enlistment having expired, I was finally discharged on October 27th, 1864 at Readville, Mass.

I took part in the Battle of Deserted House, Blackwater, “Siege of Suffolk” and Carsville.

I was never wounded, confined in hospital, or taken prisoner.

Among my most intimate comrades were Chauncy W. Fuller, Chas. H. Holten, Frank H. Whitcomb, Henry Willard and Chas. Jefta.

Circumstances connected with the “Deserted House”, I deem the important feature of my army life.

I Certify that the Sketch of my War service as above written is true as
